Martha Washington Hotel Review - 14 Hours in NYC

I recently stayed at the Martha Washington Hotel while visiting NYC and I liked it so much that I decided to do a review! I know it's not book related, but there is something so quintessential about this hotel that I think it speaks to the inner bookworm in us all. I don't have any photos of the outside of the hotel because the weather was terrible, so please enjoy this photo from the hotel website:

The Martha Washington Hotel has an interesting history. It was a former all-women's hotel and has been around since the early 1900s. It has undergone a transformation and it fits right into the NYC scene. It's located on 29 E. 29th Street (between Madison and Park Ave.) which is prime location as it's in the middle of Manhattan.

The first thing you notice about this hotel is the amount of class. I'm not even exaggerating. It's right next to the Marta restaurant and the lighting and decor is very sophisticated. When you walk in the restaurant is to the left and it's a little confusing because the reception desk up ahead isn't immediately visible. At least not to me, then again I was stunned by the beauty of the lobby/restaurant.

The reception desk attendants were very nice and they let me have a later check-out time. I arrived at the hotel around 9:30pm and room service delivered dinner until 10pm, so I got to order a pizza. I was a happy camper. Now...the room itself...I'll let you digest the photos first...

Cute, right? The room was definitely smaller than a "standard" sized room. It reminded me of Pod51, except like 20x better. Let's talk about that wall decor for a moment. It makes the room feel very cozy and not in cramped space kind of way. The bed itself was very soft and I fell asleep almost immediately after jumping in. There was a television on the wall, so I got to watch Good Morning America when I woke up. Even the shower was classy. Granted, no tub because of the size of the room, but I think if you're only staying 1 night it's ok. The sink is outside of the "bathroom," but again I think that's ok for just 1 night.

If you are ever in NYC for a short-period of time then be sure to check out the Martha Washington Hotel!

Read on,

Saudia
