Book Review: The Readers of Broken Wheel Recommend by Katarina Bivald
Recently I was sent The Readers of Broken Wheel Recommend* by Katarina Bivald to read and the timing was just perfect. The cold weather has finally hit town and when it gets cold I go looking for a cozy book to read. Well here it is, the coziest of them all.
The story is set in a small town in Iowa called Broken Wheel. It follows a woman from named Sara who traveled from Sweden to Iowa to meet her friend Amy. When Sara arrives she finds a town that doesn't have much life to it and she decides to revive it by opening a bookshop. Little does she know, this bookshop is just the kick in butt the town needed.
This book feels like a cup of hot chocolate: warm and sweet. Bivald has managed to write chick-lit that pays homage to books in a way I've never seen before. The characters felt very real and really gave the setting a small town feel. At some points I found myself comparing some characters to people in my actual world.
Not only does Bivald write the perfect book nerd character, but she shows just why books are so important to the world - even if that world is a small town in Iowa. Of course there are all the other things you expect from chick-lit like some romance, some comedy, etc. But ultimately this is a book about a book lover and I think all of us book lovers can relate to it.
*I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
