6 Back To School Reading Tips

School is right around the corner and even though it's been a while since I was in a classroom, I remember all too well the horrible experience of required reading. Whether it's high school or college, having someone mandate you read a book just automatically makes you NOT want to read it.

Here are 6 tips for back to school reading:
  1. Get deadlines in order - trust me, it'll make things easier. Most likely you'll get a syllabus and some sort of timeline that shows how much of the book you're supposed to read and by when. Getting your deadlines in order and putting them on a calendar will keep you on track. You'll be able to plan out when you need to read and how much you need to read each week.
  2. Create a "Reading Club" with your friends - bring snacks, drinks, and decorations for your meeting space. The name is lame (ha) so rename it if you want. Make the space fun for you and your friends so that the only thing that's boring is the book you're reading.
  3. Read small chunks each day - remember those deadlines and the calendar stuff? This is where that comes in. Try to time it so that you only have to read 10 pages a day. That's SO much more manageable than trying to read the entire Iliad in a week.
  4. Audiobooks - fall asleep when reading? Try getting the audiobook. You can get them through services like Audible or even your library. But remember - this takes time! You can't really "skim" an audiobook, so make sure you have enough time to listen to it.
  5. Beg the gods to make the book more interesting - .00000025% effective, but worth a shot.
  6. Read in accents - try reading out loud and do it in an accent. Maybe do this with your friends in that reading club. After all, doesn't everything sound better in a British accent?
I hope these tips help you get through the school year a bit easier! Don't forget to subscribe to get more A+ advice!
