Book Review: Rad Women Worldwide

Rad Women Worldwide by Kate Schatz

Gender inequality is something that is still plaguing the world in 2016. This is why Rad Women Worldwide* by Kate Schatz and Miriam Klein Stahl stuck out to me. As children we are taught from an early age that girls behave a certain way and boys behave a certain way and even their respective accomplishments lean a certain way. This seems to be the norm amongst all cultures and religions, no matter how conservative or liberal.

This book has biographies about 40 women from different parts of the world and different time periods who did amazing things, despite the bias against their gender. Each story is a page or two long and packed with exciting detail. I loved that the biographies were so short because it made it easy to consume the information. One common thread amongst many of these women is that they weren't expected to shine and did anyways.

I found this book to be extremely refreshing, especially in the current political climate. It was really nice to read about women through the ages who accomplished great things despite the obstacles in their way. Another really impressive thing about this book is the illustrations. The illustrations are beautiful and make the book even more enjoyable.

My plan is to pay it forward and give this book to someone else to enjoy. I think this would also make a great gift, especially for children. Definitely check this out if you want to learn more about women who shaped the world!
